The Department of Education has sadly failed to publish any detailed demographic information, data about enrolment projections or other supporting material to help local residents give feedback on their proposed site at ISHS.
My office has compiled some basic information about local schools, as well as some alternative sites which locals have suggested.

Alternative Sites
The following sites have been suggested by community members. My office has compiled them into a list and summarised some pros and cons of each. This list is not exhaustive, so please send your suggestions to [email protected] and CC my office ([email protected])
Sites which may be viable |
||
Site |
Area (m2) |
Pros and Cons |
SES Depot / Shell Service Station / Toowong Bowls Club |
19,000 |
Pros: Relatively large site, with some land publicly owned. Close to Toowong Station and buses. Could use Perrin Park and Jack Cook Park for play space. Close to high-growth areas in Toowong. Cons: Any loss of green space would need to be offset by new facilities close by. Possible interference with a bat colony. Further from high-density areas around Indooroopilly. Flood prone. |
Tricare site, Seven Oaks St Taringa |
11,830 |
Pros: Good location to address existing gaps in the catchments between ISS, Ironside & Toowong. Cons: Not close to any major oval or green space, smaller site. |
QASMT site (Move QASMT to UQ) |
96,440 |
Pros: Large site including oval, already publicly owned. Moves QASMT closer to public transport. Cons: Further from high-growth areas of Indooroopilly, significant extra cost, disruption for QASMT students and difficulty of negotiating with UQ. |
ISHS site (cnr of Ward and Carnarvon St) (Proposed by the Department of Education) |
35,000 |
Pros: Large site with access to green space, already publicly owned. Close to high density areas. Cons: Major traffic issues, loss of space for ISHS, potential loss of local access to green space, flooding. |
The following sites have also been suggested by community members, but our view is that they are less viable than the sites above.
Less viable sites |

Site |
Area (m2) |
Pros and Cons |
Westpoint Autos site, Moggill Rd Indooroopilly (opposite ISS) |
12,328 |
Pros: Sizeable site in a single land holding. Could form a second campus at ISS. Cons: Significant road noise & concern about air pollution. Likely traffic impacts. Close to ISS, meaning no active travel benefits. Split campus. |
Sci-Fleet Toyota site, Moggill Rd Taringa |
5,622 (incl access road) |
Pros:Centrally located to address the gap in catchments around Taringa. Could combine with neighbouring commercial properties on Beatrice St for extra space Cons: Significant road noise & concern about air pollution. Likely traffic impacts. Smaller site. |
Mazda / Mercedes dealership site, Moggill Rd Taringa |
10,062 |
Pros: Centrally located to address the gap in catchments around Taringa. Cons: Significant road noise & concern about air pollution. Likely traffic impacts. Smaller site. Some flooding. |
Toowong Bus Depot, Dean St Toowong |
45,910 |
Pros: Large site, already publicly owned, no flooding. Cons: Very far from high-growth areas of Indooroopilly driving enrollment pressures and possible delays, cost and disruption moving the existing bus depot. |
