The Queensland Greens are calling on Labor and the LNP to return donations from companies linked to developers, arguing the major parties’ failed housing policies have been influenced by property industry cash.
Research published by the Guardian today has revealed that companies linked to property developers have given more than half a million to Labor and the LNP despite property developer donations being banned in Queensland.
Greens MP Michael Berkman said:
“Labor and LNP have been taking cash from the same industry that’s helped create the housing crisis.
“The Greens refuse all corporate donations, which is why we’ve proposed a public property developer to get on with building public homes directly.
“We raised loopholes in the developer donations laws four years ago and Labor refused to close them - now we know why.
“If we want to actually clean up politics then all corporate donations should be illegal, but getting the developer donations ban right is the absolute bare minimum.”
