I spoke in Parliament on the government's bill to dissolve the Ipswich City Council.
This is a drastic move that's only justified because of the extreme levels of corruption and mismanagement we've seen in recent times. The people of Ipswich deserve better; they deserve a fresh start. Sadly, they won't have a democratically elected Council for another 18 months.
I'd like to thank the Ipswich locals and the Ipswich-Lockyer Greens for their hard work keeping the spotlight on Council's poor behaviour and working towards a brighter future.
Ultimately we need to move to decentralising power across all Councils, giving residents more say via participatory budgeting models, citizen planning juries, and other democratic measures.
