Long Pocket is growing, but it needs a decent bus service.
With the approval of 50 townhouses around Jacaranda Pl (beyond the end of the bus route) and 160 retirement living apartments on the grounds of the Indro Golf Club, hundreds will be moving into an area with no frequent public transport.
Everyone deserves access to frequent and reliable public transport. You may have seen that I recently announced a plan for better long pocket buses:
1. Increase the frequency of the 417 service, including having the service run later in the evening
2. Extend the 417 service into Jacaranda Place, Indooroopilly
3. Create a new high-frequency bus connection between Long Pocket, Indooroopilly Station, and Indooroopilly Shopping Centre
I’ve recently launched a petition and I’ve been chuffed with the community feedback.
As your MP I want to hear what you think about this plan and let you know how you can advocate for better public transport.
On Saturday, September 3rd I’ll be at Sir John Chandler Park from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM to have a chat about the proposal. You can also have a coffee on me from the Bru Bean coffee cart.
Can’t make it? Send us an email with your thoughts at [email protected].
