Save children’s literacy sessions at Brisbane libraries

The LNP Council is cutting free children’s literacy sessions (like rhyme time and storytime) across Brisbane libraries, despite huge demand from parents.

These “First 5 Forever” library sessions teach children crucial literacy skills and provide community for parents at what can be a very socially isolating time. They’re so popular that they’re often fully booked out - sometimes even turning parents away. With as many as 35% of some sessions being cut, even more parents will miss out.

In a cost of living crisis, we should be prioritising free activities for families, not cutting them. Help us save children’s literacy sessions at Brisbane libraries by signing the petition and sharing it with your friends and family.

The free First 5 Forever sessions at Brisbane City Council libraries are fantastic. They teach children crucial literacy skills for kids and provide community for parents.

Your petitioners call on the Brisbane City Council and Queensland Government to work together to reinstate these sessions across Brisbane libraries.
