Big Doorknocking Energy: Key Greens campaigns have knocked over 110,000 doors as voting begins

As early voting booths open for the State election, the Queensland Greens reveal they have knocked on over 110,000 doors, concentrated in six key seats of Cooper, McConnel, Greenslopes, Miller, South Brisbane and Maiwar. The Greens say this puts them on track to win those six seats at the State election.

The Greens credit recent breakthroughs with new Federal and Council seats in Brisbane to huge grassroots field campaigns, with volunteers taking policies like rent caps, a public bank for cheaper mortgages, and price caps on essential grocery items directly to voters.

Greens MP Michael Berkman:

“The Greens refuse corporate donations so we rely on these grassroots campaigns and one-on-one conversations to win.

“Based on the size of these campaigns and the conversations we’re having in those six seats, we believe we’re on track to not only retain Maiwar and South Brisbane but win four new seats in McConnel, Greenslopes, Miller and Cooper.

“This could be the start of the Greens breaking apart the two-party system in Queensland and fundamentally transforming politics in this State.

“People are fed up with both Labor but they’re not convinced by the LNP. They want a genuine alternative that’s going to put ordinary people ahead of corporate profits, and we know that the more people hear about the Greens’ policies, the more our vote rises.”
