We must put people before profit and stand up to the corporate donor class.
I had a chance to respond to the government's budget and set out the Greens' ideas. While there are so many issues, I chose to focus my speech on education, development and transport. There is some great news in the Budget on school funding, although it looks like Labor have failed to fulfil their election commitments on schools.
Where it really falls down though is a lack of vision for fixing the development and transport issues that are choking our suburbs. We can address these problems but only if we make big business pay its fair share. There is more than enough to go around but fear of the corporate class is holding government back.
Don't you think it's time we put the needs of Queenslanders ahead of corporate profits?
