After hearing from concerned locals, Greens Member for Maiwar Michael Berkman asked the Transport Minister to address this major safety issue.
Michael Berkman:
“This section of road gets really busy, especially during rush hour and school pick up/ drop off.
“These tiny signs are not enough to warn cars zooming by, and kids, older folks and cyclists can find it particularly dangerous.
“I’ve had locals tell me they never walk to Latrobe Terrace simply because they don’t feel safe crossing the road!
“I’ve been calling for a range of measures to make this road safer, but this is a no-brainer for the State Government to act on right away.
“In my experience, these issues only see action when a large number of local residents push for change.
“So while I’m waiting to hear back from the Minister, I’ve also prepared a really simple email template on my website (michaelberkman.com.au/macgregortcecrossing) so locals can urge him to act.”
