64% Qld favour Greens policy to end greyhound racing

A new DemosAU poll released today shows 64% of Queenslanders support phasing out greyhound racing, showing a high level of support for the Greens position of ending the controversial sport over animal welfare concerns.

“Queenslanders are rightly worried about the high numbers of greyhounds injured and killed in the year since The Q racetrack opened with Labor funding.” said state Greens MP Michael Berkman.

“At least 30 dogs have been killed in just one year. It’s flagrant animal abuse, and both Labor and the LNP have blood on their hands.

“With Labor and the LNP in Queensland pocketing over $54,000 in donations from the gambling industry last year, it’s not surprising that they’re refusing to act.

“The Greens are the only parliamentary party fighting to ban greyhound racing in Queensland, and we’ll keep fighting until the day this barbaric practice is ended."
