Zipline Submission

Brisbane City Council is planning a three part mega-zipline attraction at Mt Coot-tha.

If approved, it would mean a for-profit company would operate 6 ziplines (at $100 a ride), plus a tree top canopy tour.

The project is located entirely within the Mt Coot-tha Trust Lands, held on trust for the people of Brisbane ‘as a site for public park and for no other purpose whatsoever’.

This is privatisation at its worst. While Brisbane City Council continues to green-wash their plans and brush off the community outcry, it has been clearly established that this project will have huge impacts on the local environment and community. Further, Council will be assessing its own application, so there are significant concerns about conflict of interest. Putting in a valid, formal submission is one important way for the community to have a say. The process is not perfect, but Council is legally required to consider our submissions.

Personalise your submission!

  • Add a sentence or two about who you are and why you want to see Mt Coot-tha protected. Do you have a particular attachment to the mountain? Will you be especially affected by this development? Be specific.
  • Feel free to make other changes to the default text in the form and remove anything you don't agree with.
  • It is important to be very clear about why you oppose the project. Include and emphasise the particular parts of the application you’re concerned about and be sure to explain your reasoning.
  • Don’t worry if you’re not an “expert”. This project affects everyone living in Brisbane and beyond, so everyone’s voice matters.

Please share this page around, talk to your friends and encourage everyone you know who cares about this proposal to make a submission.
