Win for residents fighting controversial high-rise development

St Lucia residents had a win this month!

St Lucia residents had a win this month with Council rejecting the proposal for a controversial high-rise development on Macquarie Street. Michael Berkman has vocally opposed the development, having heard from a number of St Lucia locals who expressed their concerns about the continually growing height and scale of the proposal (from an initial 23 units to 73) and the environmental and traffic impacts.

City Planning chairman Councillor Julian Simmonds’ refusal of the application shows the power community voices can have on political decision-making when we stand up to inappropriate development. Congratulations!
