WESTSIDE parents are struggling to get their children into after-school care facilities, with wait lists swamped and some schools almost unable to offer places to next year's Prep kids.
Education Minister Grace Grace has established a new working group to deal with mounting concerns about long after-school care wait lists.
State Greens MP for Maiwar, Michael Berkman, told Parliament after-school services at Indooroopilly State School and Ironside State School were overwhelmed, with hundreds of students on the wait list and no ability to cater for next year's Prep intake.
Ms Grace said 60 new after-school spots had been created across both schools, and the working group, which included department representatives, all school sectors and parents' groups, would examine ways to tackle the wait list crisis.
A recent survey by advocacy group The Parenthood revealed two-thirds of parents were stressed or extremely stressed about managing school drop-offs and pick-ups.
