Question Time: is it possible to criticise Israel without being accused of antisemitism?

On Wednesday, 4 March 2026 I asked the Premier a question without notice during question time.

Mr BERKMAN: My question today is to the Premier. The UN Human Rights Council has concluded that a genocide is occurring in Gaza and the International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defence minister Yoav Gallant. Does the Premier accept that it is possible to criticise the State of Israel and its actions without being anti-Semitic?

Mr SPEAKER: Hold on, I am going to get advice on this one.

Dr ROWAN: Mr Speaker, I rise to a point of order. My point of order relates to whether elements of the question are seeking an opinion and also the jurisdictional responsibility. I wanted to bring those matters to your attention with respect to how the question was worded.
